For our out-of-town and West Coast guests, note that beach trips here may require a bit more planning than in California. During peak summer season, parking can be limited and often reserved for residents, and not all beaches are public. Regulations and availability vary by beach, but a quick online search should guide you in the right direction.
The Cape Cod National Seashore includes Marconi Beach in Wellfleet, Herring Cove Beach in Provincetown, and Coast Guard Beach in Easthamâregularly ranked among the top beaches in America. We love sunbathing on these wide, sandy shores and cooling off in the Atlantic. You'll find warmer waters and tidal pools near Cape Cod Bay, which is perfect for exploring at low tide. Itâs a great spot for kids and beachcombers of all ages.
Our place is a 15 minute walk to Cooks Brook Beach, where you can walk-on for free. Please feel free to coordinate with us if you'd like to park at our place and walk down! We have access for ~3 additional cars.
A beautiful trail that meanders through marshes, sandy dunes, and along the water, offering stunning views of the bay. Being dog friendly, the 3 of us love it here! You can walk out into the Bay for miles and miles on the sandbar at the right time of day.
Freshwater ponds are scattered throughout the Cape and offer calm and serene spots for swimming, kayaking, or picnicking. The water is fresh and typically a bit warmer than the Atlantic! We love swimming in the ponds at Nickerson State Park. Great Pond in Eastham and Gull Pond in Wellfleet are also near by.
A 25-mile trail running through the Lower Cape, perfect for cycling or walking. Itâs a scenic way to explore the natural beauty of the Cape and it's easy to find a place to rent a bike for a couple of hours or the day.
A vibrant, artistic community filled with unique shops, galleries, and restaurants. You can also check out the Pilgrim Monument here.
Walk through salt marshes, woodlands, and beaches while spotting local wildlife and birds. A great place for nature lovers and families. If you love wildlife and have some extra time, we also recommend checking out Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge.
Wellfleet is famous for its oysters. Take a tour of the oyster farms or try the local seafood at one of the townâs many restaurants.
